We are seeking a Regional Business Development Manager to drive our waste and energy business growth for commercial and industrial scale plastic to fuel projects.

The ideal candidate should have a deep network of industry contacts in the petroleum, petrochemical and waste industry, petroleum purchasing and/or sustainability functions of large commercial and industrial entities.

The candidate will also have experience with waste conversion projects and power project origination. They will be responsible for implementing the development strategy by developing new and existing customer relationships, proposing and structuring waste conversion projects and energy transactions, and will have a deep knowledge of revenue offtake agreements.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop partner relationships with accounts to effectively manage the entire sales and purchase process including the contract negotiation, project execution and operational phases

  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with executives, energy buyers, feedstock suppliers and other key personnel in targeted accounts in assigned geographic regions

  • Collaborate with strategy and marketing groups to identify and develop new opportunities and craft value propositions to serve target market

  • Develop tactical execution plans for project development

  • Lead through all aspects of a complex sales process to successful closing of deals and projects

  • Collaborate with colleague departments including Project Finance, Legal, Construction Services and O&M in support of sales process

  • Expand pipeline of sales opportunities by generating and qualifying high-quality leads

  • Direct outside consultant activities retained in support of sales opportunities

  • Approximately 50 - 70% travel to customer locations for meetings/presentations

  • Position will be responsible for covering the Midwest Region and must reside in the Midwest


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics or business

  • 10+ years' experience in the power generation industry including, but not limited to, waste to energy, combined heat and power, biogas, renewables with an emphasis on project finance experience and/or infrastructure development in the power generation and/or fuels sector

  • 5+ years' experience in complex selling: prospects comprise multiple "buyers" in different parts of an organization, selling a value-based proposal to large organizations in the power and energy sector at executive level

  • Selling $50-100M+ projects over extended sales cycles to first-time and repeat buyers for whom multiple stakeholders influence the buying decision

  • Experience introducing new product and service offerings, and developing corresponding value propositions

  • Proven record in generating and executing high impact partnership engagements which includes managing relationships and negotiations through to execution to ensure successful long-term partnerships

  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously while actively contributing to financial modeling

  • A proven track record of developing successful biogas, combined heat and power, waste to energy and other clean energy projects

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred
